I finally made progress on my big loom. I finished with the ReFabrications piece that I was working on. Now I am doing something for a bit of a hoot. I am weaving a raincoat out of plastic, Meijer bags to be exact. There is a border of red table cloths and if I have enough I am going to weave a tote bag and material for an umbrella. This is going fast, but I put more warp on there than I thought. I have found a few small pieces of fabric, maybe I will do some more ReFabrications and make some vests.
I had a warp for a double weave scarf. the edges and single layer and you have a section in the middle that goes in and out. Ugh, this means weaving with two shuttles. My version of Hell. This warp has been hanging on my peg rack for almost 8 years. One day it hit me. I could use one shuttle and only weave the top layer, still alternating the middle section and when I washed it the unwoven layer would shrink up and the middle would crinkle which leaves the outside to kind of flair out. I will post pictures.
For my little loom I am working on a solid white heavy chenille scarf. I am hoping that I have enough to finish the warp. I swear that I did the math, but halfway through I am not certain. Oh well, I will figure it out. I may be weaving it with an off white weft. This is for an order for a customer. I will run a thread of irredescent white with the chenille weft. Always exciting when I am trying something new.

I am trying to discipline myself to keep on task. I am going to try to write a post at least once a week. Right now I have two empty looms and one loom that has a warp over 6 months old. I was doing a refabrication weaving on it that I finally finished. Now I am weaving a plastic raincoat. OK, so it is more of a joke, but hey, why not? I have a navy warp threaded in a point twill. I wove a border with red table clothes then the body is going to be woven with cut up Meijer bags. I have at least half of the front finished. Since I hurt my knee I have to watch how long I weave. It is frustrating. I want to finish this warp so that I can get some rugs on the big loom.
And while all of this is going on I need to prepare for putting our house on the market and then moving. I go down to the basment and I am just overwhelmed by how much has to be done. I need to chip away at it a little at a time. The first thing that I am going to do is to get rid of yarn that I don't want. I have people who will take it so it is just a matter of getting a big box and starting to toss. Yeah, that's all.
OK, time to do something.
